New glitch music video: Totem Codes “Death House”

Started making glitch videos again to go with some music I recorded a couple years ago. Here’s the first, for the song “Death House.” Putting it out there under my new project name Totem Codes. All analog electronics, using Arturia Matrix Brute and Drum Brute. Play loud with headphones for maximum bass response. Video created using analog tape and long chain of analog and digital FX, re-amped from CRT TV using digital camera at HD setting. All video disintegration and pixilation intended!

Literary journal Five-2-One usually appears in print, but its daily supplement, The Sideshow, appears online. My poem “After the Guillotine” appears there starting today in text and video formats. The video features my reading of the poem, along with an electronic backing score. Warning: grim subject matter may not be appropriate for all audiences! You can view it all here.

“Quasar Pulsar” video on YouTube

It’s been a while since I posted new video content, so today I uploaded the “Quasar Pulsar” video to YouTube. I’ve been placing stills from it in various journals over the past year (Otoliths, Angry Old Man, H&, etc). This one is pretty long at nearly 13 minutes, but the colors and movement may make it interesting enough to endure. Electronic soundtrack by Tone Ghosting. The text is the last stanza from my poem “Shit on a Stick Corporation”: “Quasar pulsar/beep beep/to the stars and all.” It refers to the noise pollution of televised advertising escaping into space, which some alien race light years away will have to deal with eventually. Why would aliens visit the Earth? To tell us to keep it down.

Poems in River River, H&, Black Poppy Review and In Between Hangovers

New publications this week:

Hudson Valley literary journal RiverRiver broke out a shiny new web design for their Spring 2017 issue, which includes my poem “Modern (American) Lifeline.” You can read it here.

One “Civilization’s Lost” film still in H&, a journal of experimental visual poetry. You can check it out here. This is another excerpt from some glitch video work.

One text poem in Black Poppy Review. You can read “The Lock of Victorian Hair” here.

In Between Hangovers accepted a batch of work to be published over the next couple months. “Vegetarian Is the Night” was released on Thursday, May 26. You can read it here.

Pegasus Paradise music video

Last week I posted a new video to the Bionic Eyes YouTube channel. This one is a music video for the title track from the Tone Ghosting cassette Private Jet Experience  on Coffeehead Duck tapes. You can check out the label (and purchase copies) here:

In this video, nymphs and chimera romp across a candy-colored cyberscape as shattered neon waves crumble around them. Plenty of hyperdelic glitch washouts and damaged montages clutter the screen. Everything melts down into a plastic surface where the biological destiny of the body is denied, and the prurient gaze is subverted into an alternate plane of confusion. This is the longest video I’ve posted so far, so hopefully the colors will carry you to the rhythm, and the rhythm will carry you to the end.

Poems in H& and Streetcake; new video poem on YouTube

Several poems appearing in the blogoverse this week.

On April 25, one of my video poem stills, “Emit Damage-1” appeared in H&. You can see it here. This is a still from the video poem “Reprogramming Cybertopia.” You can see the entire video on the Bionic Eyes YouTube channel here.

On April 23, “Rock Remains Rock” was published in Streetcake Issue #52. You can read it here.

Plus, I posted another video poem on the Bionic Eyes YouTube channel. This one’s called “Succubus Highway” because of all the bikini girls on motorcycles.  The text reads “wherever there are ruins/lives like flames/dance across time.”

“Reprogramming Cybertopia”–New video poem on YouTube

This week’s video poem posted to my Bionic Eyes YouTube channel is “Reprogramming Cybertopia.

This one is something of a science fiction story about a UFO invasion during which aliens reprogrammed our two dimensional reality to create a cybertopia based on disinformation. The sphere of control includes mental processing, advertising, reconfiguration of physical space, and the deletion of individual consciousness.

Flashes of awareness interrupt the flow of kaleidoscopic patterns, glitch erasures, and a thick haze of throbbing video distortion. Humans conduct themselves as normal, despite being embedded in an artificial environment.

Video text: “emit damage/and what remains/to defeat real truth”
