Poems in H& and Streetcake; new video poem on YouTube

Several poems appearing in the blogoverse this week.

On April 25, one of my video poem stills, “Emit Damage-1” appeared in H&. You can see it here. This is a still from the video poem “Reprogramming Cybertopia.” You can see the entire video on the Bionic Eyes YouTube channel here.

On April 23, “Rock Remains Rock” was published in Streetcake Issue #52. You can read it here.

Plus, I posted another video poem on the Bionic Eyes YouTube channel. This one’s called “Succubus Highway” because of all the bikini girls on motorcycles.  The text reads “wherever there are ruins/lives like flames/dance across time.”

Poems published in Otoliths & In Between Hangovers

Five of my poems made their initial public appearance today in two of my favorite journals.

Otoliths #44 published four poems: “Running Across Harappa,” “Your Ad Here,” “Barcode Traps,” and “Reaching for Mars with the Wrong End of the Stick.” You can read them here. Lots of great stuff in this issue, including some amazing visual poetry.

As a side note, an informative interview with Otoliths editor Mark Young has appeared on the Dictung Yammer blog. The discussion covers the history of the poetry journal, editing a journal, and Mark’s 50 year history as writer and editor of poetry.

I have several poems waiting in the cue at In Between Hangovers that will be released gradually. Today, “Tax Plan Sneer Job” made it into the “print” of the electronic blogosphere. You can read it here.

One poem in Streetcake #50

Streetcake issue #50, the “50th Anniversary Issue,” went live today (December 30, 2016) including one of my poems, “The Light Becomes the Tunnel.” The whole issue is a quick read, as it’s fairly short–great for year end vacation reading.

Sometimes you just know when a journal is right for your work. Here’s how the Streetcake editors describe what they’re looking for: “We are looking for exciting writing that is visual, innovative and experimental. We also like great imagery and humorous writing. We want to read poetry and fiction that surprises us, looks downright weird and is a little out of the ordinary. So if your writing is a bit of an outcast, then join us, support us and keep returning to the cake.”

Three poems accepted in Chiron Review

Just got an email from Chiron Review notifying me that they had accepted three of my poems for publication in the Summer 2017 issue: “First Day On,” “Tonight’s Window,” and “Hit the Shoes.” It will be a long wait, but it’s pretty exciting for me, since the last time they published my work was in the 90’s.

Two poems in Clockwise Cat #35

Just found out that Clockwise Cat Issue 35 went live on October 16. The journal includes two of my poems: “Egg Raid on Midtown” and “Just to Be a Hobo” on pages 17-19. You can find a link to the issue hereClockwise Cat is an online magazine published via Yumpu, so it reads like a print publication.  Lots of neo-surreal poetry and full color collage art amid reviews and rants, making a dynamic mix.

Flashback: One poem in Exquisite Corpse

img_1959That time my poem “Christmas is Over” was published in Andrei Codrescu’s Exquisite Corpse, No. 50 1994/95. This was my second appearance in the journal. Very bummed it doesn’t exist anymore. I love the closing image of Santa Claus jumping up and down in a chimney on fire. That’s what happens when you’re in the zone.
